In order to be a fast karter, you need to know the basics. The Racing Line is one of the most important techniques to know in karting. This will reduce your lap times significantly!
Learning The Line
The racing line is the fastest way to get round a corner, this reduces the amount of speed you lose throughout.
Most of the time, the way to take the racing line is to go as wide as you can before the corner.
This minimises the amount of steering input needed and allows the kart to stay at speed.
There are different ways to take a corner. Depending on the length of the next straight and angle of the corner, you will have to decide where to take the corner.
If there is a long straight after the turn, take a later entry. This will give you a smooth line out of the corner to allow you to reach higher top speeds at the end of the straght.

The video to the right shows me taking a later apex than normal to gain positions. Instead following the drivers in front of me and losing speed, I turned in later to create a longer straight so I could reach higher speeds. This gave me the opportunity to overtake.
