There are plenty of different colours to chose from many different brands. The most popular brands, like the kart suits, are OMP, Alpinestars and Sparco as they are the safest and most reliable.
Like Race Suits, Gloves aren't compulsory at every kart track. However, in the UK, gloves have been compulsory at every kart track I have been to with petrol powered karts.

Karting gloves are designed to reduce stress on your hands during racing. Gloves that are supplied by kart tracks tend to be very cheaply made and are not very comfortable to wear. I recommend to buy a pair as they will last for a lot of races and will be less painful on your hands during races.
