There are endless styles of helmet to chose from. If you like a helmet except for a small painted feature (such as a logo), you can take it to your local Motorist Shop and vinyl it over for cheap. You can also create your own design for your helmet, however it's expensive.
Helmets
There isn't a single track in the UK that will let you race without a crash helmet. Most tracks will supply helmets for you. However if you want to stand out from the crowd and wear something a little more protective, check out these recommendations!

A lot of karters tend to use motorcycle helmets for karting. This is because they tend to be cheaper and have the same amount of protection as karting helmets.
However, Karting helmets tend to be lighter, so you can save those milliseconds on track!
Balaclavas are optional at most tracks, depending if you find them comfortable or not it's your choice whether you wear one.
